Call to Artists – 2008 Summer Exhibit at CCAL
This
year the Cape Coral Art League will have a members only Summer Exhibit to
represent the artists. Rather than
entering a piece to fit a theme or one that you think a judge might like, this
show should depict your favorite creation(s).
Guidelines are similar to other shows, but there is no entry fee and we
will have a “People’s Choice” award rather than the usual 1st-3rd
prizes. The winner will receive a
certificate and a ribbon. The award
will be presented at the first meeting of our new season. No gallery sitting is required, unless you’d
like to. This is a great opportunity to express your self and allows summer
visitors to see a good representation of the work we do.
Criteria:
Up
to two pieces may be submitted
Members
must be current, paid members for 2008
Fine
art – paintings, photography, sculpture, mixed media, pen & ink, pencil,
pastel
Size
– No larger than 48 inches, including frame
Art
must be created in entirety by the artist and may have been done in class as
long as the instructor did not actually paint, sketch, etc. any part of it
Work
must be thoroughly dry, framed and ready for hanging…wire must not come higher than
3 inches from the top of the painting
Framed
work larger than 15x22 must be framed using plexiglass
Sculptures
must not exceed 30 lbs in weight
Receiving: May 28th – 12 to 3 pm
Reception: May 30th – 5 to 7 pm
Pick
up paintings: Sept. 24th –
10 am to 4 pm
Paintings
sold during the show may be taken by the buyer and the artist may replace the
piece after approval by a chairperson.
A commission of 30% of sales will be donated to CCAL and paid by the
artist before picking up their payment.
Artist pays sales tax.
